Have Towel, Will Travel

The Great Wall of China

I'm excited for the start of another football season this week.  I'll spend many of the upcoming Sundays sitting on my couch, swinging my Terrible Towel in the air cheering on the Steelers.  It's like my security blanket and it's well traveled.

It still pains me that I temporarily left it on the tour bus at the Taj Mahal in India and didn't get a picture with it there.  It has seen just as much of the world as I have:

Ready for some football

I'm having a hard time staying focused today at work.  Call it a case of the Mondays.  It being Monday is only part of the reason though.  It has more to do with Monday Night Football.

Tonight my Steelers take on K.C. in what should be a cake-walk, although anything can happen on MNF.  It's the only time this season the Steelers play on Monday night and I'm excited to watch tonight.

There is something special for me about seeing my favorite team play on MNF, especially a home game.  There will be some great shots of Pittsburgh light up for the game, along with the required shots of molten steel being poured and Primanti's sandwiches being made.

MNF games always feel special.  Maybe it's because the game conjures up memories of when I was younger and had to fight my heavy eyelids to stay up and watch until the end of the game.  Whatever the case, I'm ready for some football.

Very Superstitious Indeed

I know it's crazy.  I know it doesn't actually effect the result.  I know it's illogical.  I know all this and yet I still act like the crazy fans in the above ad when game day arrives.
Literally head to toe.

Yes, like many others in Steeler Nation when I watch the Steelers play I am always dressed head to toe in black and gold.  But it's my lucky socks that help them win.  And if my socks aren't working, I've got my lucky boxers to fall back on.  And if neither of those are working, well I just have to change how I am sitting to get the Stillers back on track.

Case in point, last week when the Steelers took on the Jets, things weren't going well.  That is until I noticed how well they seemed to be playing when I was standing up.  So I stood for the rest of the game.  Steelers won 27-10.  It may be crazy but it worked.
