An October Tradition

The leaves are beginning to change, the temperature is cooling off and here in North Carlina that can only mean that it's time for the state fair.  Kelly and I kept our tradition of going to the fair alive this weekend with a trip to the fairgrounds with our friends.

Usually Kelly and I treat it as a date night but this year we went with Steve and our friends from Greensboro.  Chase, Dori and little Josie came out and we spent a gorgeous Saturday walking around the fair and eating unhealthy delicious treats.

Going in a group seems to be the way to go since it allowed us to sample lots of goodies and not have to gain twenty pounds.  I ate a lot too.  I had Wisconsin fried cheddar cheese nuggets, some gator on a stick, fried BBQ on a stick, funnel cake and to be healthy, fried tempura veggies and a frozen chocolate covered banana.

It was a great afternoon.  We walked around, looked at the animals and giant vegetables and enjoyed the sights and sounds of the fair.  It was also a lot of fun getting to spend some time with our friends and their little girl.  She was really fun and very sweet, even though she almost knocked me unconscious with her toy baton while she was riding on my back.

Fried Cheese is like the best part of a grilled cheese sandwich.
