Despite getting the flu vaccination last month, I am sick with the flu. Sadly the vaccine only protects against three strands of the virus and I must have gotten one of those not covered.
For the past four days I have woken up with a temperature above normal. Today is the first day it hasn't been over 100 so perhaps there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I am certainly feeling better than on Friday night when I awoke around 3am to find my sheets soaked from sweat. I don't think soaked even accurately describes how saturated with sweat I was. It was if I had just finished working out. It was so bad that I ended up sleeping in our guest bed.
The fever goes along with my runny nose, chills, headache and dry cough. Basically I've got the crud. The only good thing is that it's happening this week and not during the holidays or when I'm leaving for my voyage.
At this point all I want for Christmas is to not be sick.
