Stop Acting Like A Damn Fool

One day I'd like to commission a study on why the red light on a television camera makes people act like complete fools.  With hurricane season now in full force and Isaac preparing to batter the Gulf Coast one thing is for certain, there's going to be a plethora of folks acting like complete morons behind news reporters.

I'm used to seeing kids and young adults doing this from watching live sports.  After ever big game there is always a crowd of drunk fools jumping around.  It's worse when they are on the phone.  However it seems this phenomenon has now spread across all age ranges.  I noticed on Saturday while watching coverage of Isaac that three women, likely all over 50, were acting foolish behind the weather girl doing her live read.  I guess it's only a matter of time before grandmas get in on the action. Although the thought of Grandma throwing up the devil horns, sticking out her tongue and yelling "Whooo" behind Jim Cantore is pretty amusing.

Deadspin has a great example of this today showing two young guys humping the air behind the reporter.  It's worth a watch just for the fact that for some reason they slowed the video down to show the fools and the reporter comes off sounding like some odd mix of Saw and the Weather Channel.
