Sore Thighs and Big Smiles

This past week was a great week for biking.  Sure it was hotter than the surface of the sun some days but I was built for that.  It's the olive oil that runs through my Italian veins.

I set a personal record of 137.5 miles last week.  It really helped having Monday off for the 4th and working the late shift, 2-10pm, on Friday.  Both days gave me the chance to log some miles in addition to go along with going next level on Weekend Warrior mode, including a 40 mile ride down to the sunflower fields off the Neuse River trail with my buddy Steve.

4th of July ride capped off by a few beers at the local brewery with friends.
Wednesday I worked from home so I got to ride after work.  I found this planter bike while riding around my neighborhood.  Probably from something on Pintrest.

Friday's ride included some wet trials from a late night rain.  I really want to Pittsburgh this up and take out the ER.
It's Slippy!
I tried creeping down this wet bridge.  Didn't work.  That bruise is deep but it wasn't stopping me.

Saturday's weather was hot and steamy.  I should have just ridden into the lake.

Steve joined me on Sunday for a fun ride.  Riding during the blazing hot noon sun probably wasn't the wisest move but that's why I carry two water bottles.
I really wanted to see the sunflower fields.  They were really thirsty from the heat but I think it looks like they are bowing behind me.
