Birthday Fun Day

Today is the second time in my life that I will celebrate my birthday while aboard the MV Explorer, sailing across the deep blue Indian Ocean.  It’s really a special moment. 

Having a birthday that falls on St. Patrick’s Day is really a fun time.  With everyone wearing green, the decorations everywhere and people being generally ready to party, it always feels special.  I don’t know how people with a birthday on a normal day do it.

Today my birthday was made extra special with a strawberry-vanilla Ice cream cake during our staff meeting and, as you can see above, the crew took the instructions on the cake request form quite literally.   I’m not sure why they spelled my name wrong but the cake tasted so delicious it could have said Ted for all I care.

Tonight should be a fun evening as we will have our preport presentation to prepare for our arrival in Mauritius tomorrow.  And maybe after preport we will a green beer or two and do some Irish line dancing.
