Keeping Asheville Weird

Nestled in the mountains of Western North Carolina is an amazing little town that "weird" people flock to and where good beer is a way of life.  Needless to say I really enjoyed it.

We packed up the car and the dogs on Friday morning and made the 4 hour ride through the blossoming NC landscape.  We are about a week away from full bloom here.  The green pollen wave is just hitting now.

While out in Asheville we were able to go to a few breweries.  One, Altamont Brewing, was less than a mile from the Airbnb place we had rented.  Friday night they had a live band playing and tasty beer flowing.  Any band that plays rock, blues and has a saxophone player laughing manically during the songs is going to be fun.  I had a rye pale ale there that was really good.

Saturday we got a late start due to our Friday night but still managed two get in two different breweries and a delicious lunch at a little place called Homegrown.  The food was amazing and of course I met two different people there who were from Pittsburgh.  Never fails to meet other Yinzers wherever I go.  And since I am a walking Pittsburgh sports team billboard it's hard to miss me.

Asheville was definitely one cool town and I can't wait to go back soon.  Here are a few highlights:
