It’s been another day of swaying back and forth with the
waves. I think my calf muscles are going to be
huge by the time we get back to the States from constantly trying to stabilize
myself. So far so good for me but I have
seen a few people covering their mouth and heading for the bathrooms. It’s rough at first but in a few weeks I
think we will hardly notice the rocking.
Last night was the Residence Life staff put on our first
shipboard event, the Involvement Symposium.
It’s basically a big activity fair where students can set up clubs they
are interested in. Each of us RDs have a
specific assignment, mine is Career Development. I wasn’t sure what kind of response I would
get but it turned out very well. My plan
is to help students with resume and cover letter writing, as well as how to use
social media like LinkedIn and Twitter to network.
Today is the student’s first day of classes. There are 623 students aboard, 68% of them
are female. They have classes every day
we are at sea, alternating between A days and B days. Most of them are taking 4 classes and end up
being quite busy. I think it will be
good for all of us to settle into a routine.
Perhaps it will take our minds off of the rocking.
