30 Days To Go
It's hard to believe that in just 30 days I will have a new home. A home I will share with around a thousand other people. A home that won't stay in one place for more than a few days. A home I never thought I'd get to live in again.
It seems like just yesterday that our countdown til our trip was in the triple-digit for days. I've gotten a good amount done in the past few months. I've gotten six different shots, not the fun kind, the kind that make your arm hurt for days. The worst for me was the Tetanus, however none of them felt particularly pleasant. The reason I had to get so many was to update my records for shots like adult Measles/Mumps/Rubella and Hep A & B, and I also needed vaccinated against Meningitis and Typhoid fever for the trip.
Last month my wife and I sent our passports off to D.C. to get a visa for Ghana, China and India and now that they are back, I think the only thing left to do is book our trip back home from Spain. Our biggest decision is whether to fly back to RDU or go straight to Pittsburgh so we can pick up our dog right-away. I'm leaning toward going to Pitt because I can't imagine how empty our house is going to feel without Libby when we get back.
As these days fly by and the voyage gets closer I do find myself feeling somewhat nervous. I've had quite a few dreams where I forgot my passport or showed up to the ship without any luggage but I think that is just normal nervous energy. And the nervousness is nothing compared to my excitement level. On a scale of 1-10, I'd say I'm already at 11. Just imagine what it will be on January 6.
